Master’s of Public Health complements OD degree

The connection between eye care and public health is obvious. Optometrists play an important role in treating all aspects of a patient’s health and improving the overall health of their communities. For that reason, the AOSA is proud to partner with Salus University/Pennsylvania College of Optometry to offer a scholarship for studies leading to a master’s of public health. Here, Houston optometrist Ron Hopping, O.D., MPH, past president of the AOA, offers his perspective on the MPH.

For details on the scholarship program, a first-of-its-kind program for AOSA members, visit the resource page.   Students at UC-Berkeley, SUNY, UAB, Nova Southeastern and MCPHS University can participate in a dual OD/MPH degree program as well, often with scholarship support.
